A multicolored LED in the connector of the ERP 1010 and ERP 1070 permits a reliable assessment of the incremental signals and the reference mark signal. The signal quality is indicated by different colors. A blue LED shines when the reference mark is crossed.
Very small measuring steps and high accuracy: the ERP 1000 series angle encoders use interferential scanning. A phase grating applied to a glass substrate serves as the measuring standard.
The HSP 1.0 ASIC developed by HEIDENHAIN ensures consistently high scanning signal quality. The ASIC compensates for a drop in signal amplitude by increasing the LED current, thus maintaining the optimal signal shape under contamination. Noise is also kept uniformly low.
Short signal periods normally require very narrow mounting tolerances for the distance between the scanning head and measuring standard. The ERP 1000 series is particularly easy to install due to its wide mounting tolerances, within which the quality of the output signals is barely influenced.
