1. Overview of Diamond Powder

Diamond powder is also divided into water-soluble abrasive powder and oil-soluble abrasive powder. Oil-soluble diamond powder has good wetting ability, low grinding force and low grinding heat. It is mainly used for machining high-finish hard alloys and other high-hardness alloy parts, tools and gauges, measuring instruments, cutting tools, abrasive tools, ...

Water-soluble abrasive powder has low viscosity, can be removed easily and provides high processing efficiency. It is mainly used for processing mildly corrosive metals, circuit boards, glass, ceramics, gemstones, agate, other hard and brittle, non-metallic materials.

In addition, according to the difference of diamond powder, it can also be divided into polycrystalline diamond abrasive powder and monocrystalline diamond abrasive powder. Polycrystalline diamond abrasive powder uses polycrystalline diamond powder as the main abrasive, which has strong self-abrasive properties and can meet a variety of customer needs.

2. Note when using diamond polishing powder

When polishing, users need to pay attention to the following points:

  • It should be done in a dust-free and ventilated place, because hard dust particles easily stick to the diamond paste, thereby damaging the surface that is about to be polished.

  • Each polishing tool should only be used for one type of diamond paste.

  • Wash your hands and workpiece every time you change the diamond patch.

  • Adjust the polishing pressure to match the hardness of the polishing tool and the particle size of the diamond powder. To get the best diamond paste, the pressure is only as great as the weight of the polishing tool.

  • Polishing should start from the corners, edges, pieces or other parts of the mold.

3. Common conditions after over-polishing and how to fix them

Over-polishing means that the longer the polishing time, the worse the surface condition becomes. Excessive surface polishing usually refers to the following two phenomena: "peeling like orange peel".

After polishing, uneven peeling in the form of orange peel appears on the surface of the workpiece. The main reason is due to soft material plus too much polishing pressure. To repair the material surface after damage, the following methods can be used:

  • Method 1: Use fine sanding to remove the damaged layer on the surface before polishing, then start polishing again after completing the final polish. It is recommended to use lower polishing pressure during the polishing process.

  • Method 2: Release the stress at a temperature 25°C (45F) below the final annealing temperature and repeat the pre-polishing process until the required surface condition is reached. Start polishing again, but the polishing pressure must be lower than the previous polishing pressure.
